Welcome to Teacher Nicole’s room!

Can you help us gear up for the fall?

With the end of the school year nearly upon us, we look back at an exceptional year of accomplishments at El Hogar del Niño. Chief among them, our deepening community partnerships, dynamic public events, and achieving the Award of Excellence for Infant and Toddler Services by ExceleRate Illinois, the highest level of our state's quality rating and improvement system, recognizing research-based best practice. It’s been a great year so far!

At El Hogar del Niño, we are always looking forward, so it’s no surprise that we’re already gearing up for the next school year. Literally. We’re on a mission to ensure every classroom has the resources and supplies needed to maximize learning, and we’re counting on our supporters to help us make it happen. Over the next couple of months, we’ll bring you inside our classrooms to meet some of our teachers, see what our students are learning, and illustrate the impact of your dollars.

One of our 16 preschool teachers is Nicole, who is originally from Puerto Rico and has been teaching for four years. She was thrilled to join the El Hogar family where her, “language and culture are appreciated and ensure no child goes without learning.” Like all of our teaching staff, Nicole is motivated by our active family involvement and investment in their children’s education.

“Most importantly,” teacher Nicole says, “our students are what make this school such a special place. Their energy, creativity, and excitement for learning truly create a positive learning environment.”

When asked to describe her students, teacher Nicole quickly replies, “brilliant, excited, and well-rounded. They can do a little bit of everything and when they work together, they can do it all.”

Her students love dancing, being read to, writing, and dramatic play. “As preschoolers, our main source of learning is through play, imagination, and stories,” she explains. So what are the biggest needs in teacher Nicole’s classroom? Unmarked books, markers, pencils, crayons, stencils, costumes, dolls, and instruments.

Can you help us provide these new materials to teacher Nicole’s classroom, and all 6 of the classrooms at El Hogar del Niño

A gift of $100 will help provide new drawing materials, $250 will refresh our dress-up wardrobe, and $500 will enliven our classrooms with instruments and books.

“Children in this city need us, they need you,” says Nicole. “They are so excited to learn and be the best they could be, but we need you to help us get there. From the hearts of 19 little learners we say thank you in advance for all of your help and for brightening our future.” On behalf of teacher Nicole and all of our staff here at El Hogar, we thank you for your consideration and your support.

A tax-deductible gift in any amount is welcome and deeply appreciated. You may even be able to double your impact with an employer contribution! Enter your employer name below to find out.
