Our preschool program combines Head Start and Child Care to offer full-day, yearlong programming to at risk children 3-5 years old. This full-day model allows parents to work full-time or pursue their education while knowing their children are in a safe, caring learning environment.
With the Creative Curriculum for Preschool, teachers develop their students’ social/emotional, cognitive, physical and language skills through engaging activities and focused lesson plans. Quarterly student assessments allow our teachers to track individual progress in each child and tailor learning experiences to support advancement is critical need areas.
In addition, each child is screened using the Ages & Stages Questionnaire which looks at strengths and trouble spots based on developmental milestones. This screening method allows teachers and parents to identify developmental and social-emotional delays at an early stage so children can receive the additional assistance they need to excel. El Hogar works with an extensive network of therapists to make referrals for any child who may need specialized attention.
Monthly meetings for preschool parents enable El Hogar staff to provide workshops and training to assist parents in growing their own skills and to better understand child development as it pertains to their children. El Hogar works tirelessly to support the entire family in an effort to provide its children stable, uplifting environments both in and outside of the agency.
All of our programs are accredited by the highest standard in early education, The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and we have achieved the GOLD Level of ExceleRate for our preschool program.
